Project Overviewx

Walmart is considered a global renewable energy leader, and is the largest onsite renewables user in the U.S. At Walmart, renewable energy is about helping customers save money so they can live better. Walmart has a goal to be supplied by 100% renewable energy, and there are lots of ways to get there, including various renewable energy sources – most notably solar and wind.

They selected PROINSO and our partner Becquerel Power to develop and build the project because of our Tier 1 products (LONGi Solar panels, SMA string inverters, UNIRAC racking) and world-class Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPM) services. PROINSO’s award-winning projects have been completed in partnership with local companies throughout the globe, resulting in knowledge transfer and capacity-building for local solar industries. This project was an opportunity for our company to repeat our successful business model in Mexico.

This project is allowing for Walmart to shrink their carbon footprint, lower the cost of electricity, and pass on these benefits to their customers. It is an excellent example of a business that is central to a community through environmental, social, and economic impacts – by focusing on energy use, efficiency, and future social benefits, they can add value to the entire community. Walmart is also considering installation of electric vehicle chargers, which would further benefit the community and add enduring value.
